1 This Primnoa resedaeformis was send to Baster by Erik Pontoppidan, Bishop of Bergen. It is a deep water species which comes up to about 30 meters in the Trondheimsfjord in Norway. The attachments are not cases of insects (small animals) as Baster thought. Linnaeus (1767) refers to this illustration in his description of Gorgonia lepadifera in Systema Naturae (12 p. 1289). Pallas (1766 p. 317) does the same in his description of Gorgonia reseda.
2 Holthuis (1956)
3 Holthuis (1956) : This damaged sea slater misses two uropods. This led to much confusion in literature. Both Linnaeus and Fabricius described it as a new species.
